Strategic Partner for Boards and Executive Leadership

When organizations grow, change, or hit friction, leadership needs more than advice. They need a trusted strategic partner who understands governance, risk, people, and long-term sustainability.

Association GC works alongside boards and executive leadership to help organizations make sound decisions, navigate complexity, and build structures that last.

Why leaders turn to Association GC

Organizations usually come to us at an inflection point.

Sometimes there’s an issue that can’t be ignored.

Sometimes there’s an opportunity to build something new.

Sometimes leadership simply needs experienced counsel to think through what comes next.

What they have in common is this: the organization matters, the stakes are real, and there’s no room for missteps.

Association GC provides steady, experienced guidance across the full lifecycle of organizations, especially those led by boards, volunteers, and professional staff working together.

How organizations first engage us

Clients typically begin working with Association GC in one of three ways.

Different entry points. One strategic partnership.

Addressing organizational or governance issues

Board dynamics, compliance concerns, leadership transitions, internal conflict, or reputational risk often prompt the first call. We help leadership stabilize the situation, assess options, and move forward with clarity and confidence.

Building a nonprofit or
tax-exempt organization

We guide organizations through 501(c)(3) formation and tax-exempt strategy with an eye toward governance, fundability, and long-term sustainability, not just filings. For many clients, this work becomes the foundation of an ongoing advisory relationship.

Seeking strategic or business counsel

Some leaders come to us because they need a trusted advisor who understands associations, nonprofits, and membership-driven organizations. We help boards and executives think through growth, membership strategy, fundraising readiness, leadership development, and organizational direction.

What our clients achieve

While our work is confidential, the outcomes are not.

We’ve helped voluntary bar associations secure tax-exempt status that enabled multi-year grant funding.

We’ve guided a multimillion-dollar statewide trade association to its highest membership revenue in more than 15 years.

We’ve designed and led leadership retreats for one of the largest voluntary bar associations in the United States.

We’ve modernized and professionalized organizations at every stage, from brand-new entities to established national nonprofits.

Our work helps organizations operate with greater clarity, legitimacy, and confidence.

Why
Association GC?

Association GC is led by Managing Attorney G.C. Murray II, Esq., who brings both legal training and lived leadership experience.

G.C. has served as a president of a voluntary bar association and has sat on nonprofit boards. He understands the realities of volunteer leadership, board politics, and the pressure leaders face when every decision carries legal, financial, and reputational consequences.

That experience informs how we advise.

We don’t approach organizations as outsiders guessing at how things work. We’ve been in the room. We understand the constraints.

And we know how to help leadership move forward without creating new problems.

How we work

We operate as a strategic partner, not a transactional vendor.

Our work is collaborative, discreet, and tailored to the organization’s needs as they evolve. Some engagements are short-term. Many grow into long-standing advisory relationships that span leadership transitions, strategic shifts, and periods of growth.

We meet organizations where they are and help them build toward where they want to go.

Start with a strategic conversation

If your board or leadership team is facing an issue, considering a new direction, or simply needs experienced counsel to think through what comes next, we should talk.

A strategic conversation is the first step in determining whether Association GC is the right partner for your organization.

That experience informs how we advise.
